Children are not adults. They process information differently and certain coping skills are over their heads. The wording on this worksheet is more child friendly and it includes more developmentally appropriate behaviors. Otherwise, it includes similar skills for reducing anger.
It may help for therapists to be a bit more hands on in helping a child learn these skills. For instance, a visual demonstration may be necessary for an item like deep breathing. Ask child clients to choose a couple of skills to try out and have them report back about what they thought.
